Embedded Librarianship

Nancy Weichert Brookens LibrarianBrookens Library is partnering with the Capital Scholars Honors Program on various levels. This semester one of our librarians, Nancy Weichert, has been working closely with the 120 students that comprise the freshman class. She met with each section of CAP 111: Honors Composition to discuss evaluating resources, the information cycle, and how to create successful searches. Beyond the classroom, Nancy is attending evening writing studios held in Lincoln Residence Hall. Here she is able to work one-on-one with students in their space which has proven to lessen student anxiety when it comes to library research.  She has also been invited to evaluate at the CAP Senior Symposium and to attend Capital Scholars Honors Program Steering Committee meetings in order to share ideas and provide feedback. We hope to extend similar services to additional groups of students next semester, given the success of the partnership.
